Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications
The Department of Mass Communications and Theatre Arts provides a high-quality
undergraduate liberal arts education leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Mass Communications. Through properly-sequenced study, students gain
knowledge and develop skills within a broad-based program designed to educate
and train them across media industries with emphasis on media literacy,
writing, and technology competencies. Give the convergence of mass media
industries, this broad-based approach gives students a competitive edge
in the media workplace. Media literacy courses help students to critically
understand the development of paramount economic, legal, policy, ethical,
social, and effects mass media issues. Writing courses aim to develop students'
ability to write mass media messages with accuracy, clarity, and brevity
on deadline and within varying stylistic, ethical, and legal consideration.
Technology courses develop students' proficiency in using technology to
provide visual and audio messages for mass media within varying aesthetic,
stylistic, technical, ethical, and legal considerations.
Bachelor of Arts in Theatre
The Department of Mass Communications and Theatre Arts provides a high-quality

in Theatre. This degree is designed to illuminate the complexity of humanity
through course work and productions that mesh theatrical history, theory,
and aesthetic concepts with emphasis on acting, directing, designing, constructing,
and playwriting. The specific mission of the Theatre Program is to educate
and inspire students who wish to study the art of theatre. By offering
a B.A. degree in theatre, the department provides students with a well-rounded
education in all areas of theatre arts - production & performance (including
acting, directing, and design/technical skills), literature, and history.
Providing this type of education empowers individuals to seek careers in
theatre, careers related to theatre, or other professions. |
