The following is your detailed syllabus with homework assignments for Kapitel 2 in the text book Kontakte.  Unless otherwise indicated, page numbers refer to Kontakte.  The homework listed under a given date is the work that you should already have completed before you come to class on that day. 

• Written homework from Kontakte should be placed on the instructor’s desk every day before class begins.  Most days, it will be handed back at the end of class.  On some occasions, the professor will take it with him/her, assess it and count it toward your homework grade.  
• The workbook is to be placed on the instructor’s desk on October 24^th, before the exam starts.

Mittwoch, den 1. Oktober	Read and take notes on 2.1 “The accusative case” (S. 98) and do Übungen 1 and 2 (S. 98-99). Write out 5 examples for Situation 1, S. 80.  Follow the “Modell” àwrite five such S1, S2 exchanges. Learn the vocabulary for “Besitz” (S. 80 and 95-6).
Freitag, den 3. Oktober	Aufsatz 1: You must log in to WEB CT Vista at your normal class time.  You will receive a prompt for an essay and you will have 60 minutes to complete the assignment.   Make sure you know how to log in before your class time on Friday. The assumption is that all students can access and know how to access Web CT Vista. Workbook: 61-62
Montag, den 6. Oktober	Review the vocabulary for “Besitz” and write 10 sentences about what you, your friends, your family have.  Example: Ich habe einen Computer.  Mein Bruder hat auch einen Computer. Read and take notes on 2.2 “The negative article kein, keine” (S. 99-100) and do Übung 3 (S. 100). Learn the vocabulary for „Haus und Wohnung” and “Kleidung und Schmuck” (S. 96).
Mittwoch, den 8. Oktober	Review vocabulary for “Haus und Wohnung” and “Kleidung und Schmuck” (S. 96 & S. 87) and learn “Possessivpronomen” (97). Read and take notes on 2.3 “What would you like? Ich möchte...” (S. 100-101) and 2.4 “Possessive adjectives” (S. 101-102) and do exercises 4 and 5. Workbook: 63-64 QUIZ

Mittwoch, den 15. Oktober	Review the vocabulary for “Verben.” Read 2.6 “Asking people to do things: The du-imperative” (S. 106-107) and do exercises 11, 12 and 13. Learn the vocabulary for “Adjektive und Adverbien” (S. 97). Workbook: 67 (start with C) -68

Montag, den 20. Oktober	Review the vocabulary for “Adjektive und Adverbien” and learn the vocabulary for “Sonstige Substantive” (S. 96-7)! Complete the questions unds „Vor dem Lesen“ on page 90.  Then read „Film: Im Juli“ on page 91 and do „Arbeit mit dem Text“ and „Nach dem Lesen.“ Workbook: 69-70
Mittwoch, den 22. Oktober	Review Sheet Workbook: 71-73 and Exercise C, pg. 82.
Freitag, den 24. Oktober	Study for the exam à it will focus on Kapitel 2 but you must still also know the material from all previous chapters.

On October 16^th, we will show Im Juli in the TLC, room 1200 at 7:00 p.m.  It is the film discussed in this chapter so we highly recommend going.
