DESCRIPTION OF THE GENERIC BSN CURRICULUM

The Generic BSN program prepares individuals for initial licensure as registered nurses (RN). The program, which requires 120 semester hours of credit for graduation, combines a rich and liberal foundation in arts, sciences, and humanities with a unique nursing curriculum that emphasizes the art and science of nursing. Students complete 60 semester hours of Core Curriculum in the freshman and sophomore years. The junior and senior years are devoted entirely to the study of nursing. This program is a part time plan of study, offered on the UWG Newnan Campus, extending over eight consecutive semesters.  The Generic BSN curriculum includes classroom, campus, and clinical laboratory experiences in a variety of settings such as hospitals, home health, public health, schools, and industry. A dynamic community of caring is created by full-time tenure track faculty and small classes.

The Generic BSN program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
