Teaching Philosophy – Teaching and learning should be fun and active. Teaching is connecting to the audience in thought, words and actions. Each group requires unique approaches during the teaching-learning process. Teaching styles should mold to learning styles. A professional nurse is a lifelong learner.

Areas of Expertise or Professional Interests – Test taking, thinking process, critical thinking,

1972 to present -

§         Work experience in EENT, Pediatrics, Critical Care, with float assignments to most acute care units such as medical, surgical, PACU, OR, OB

§         Considered to be a "Generalist Specialist" , "Oldie & Goldie" and "Walking, talking Tabers"

§         Presented nationally and internationally on many nursing topics

§         Author of "Soar to Success Do your Best on Nursing Tests," a test-taking skills and critical thinking tex 

§         Editor and co-author of Mosby's NCLEX review series of 5 books and 5 sets of flash cards         

§         1983 Founded & is the President of  Rollant Concepts, Inc. an education firm with the Focus: “Education in Action with Efficiency & Effectiveness”

§         Delights in helping nursing students and nurses to develop clinical reasoning & critical thinking skills

§         Consults with many hospitals, universities, and companies

§         Consultant to the Education Division of the National Council State Boards of Nursing

§         2005, 2004, 2003 faculty workshops: Jackson Community College, MI; Capital University, OH; State University of West Georgia, GA; Spencerian College, KY; Goshen College, IN, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Green Bay, WI

§         2005, 2004, 2003 presented at the Annual International Nurse Educators Conference in the Rockies

Home life:

§         Originally from the Northeast - grew up in the foothills of the mountains in western Pennsylvania

§         Now a "converted Yankee" living in Florida for the past year and in Georgia over the past 30 years

§         Married for over 29 years to Dan, "the best fellow in the world"

§         By need developed a second career in the Italian restaurant business --  "makes lasagna, pizzas, and pastas along with being the "most educated waitress" east of the Mississippi 

§         Loves to sit, look at the sea … come in and go out…and soak up the sound of the waves

 Professional Memberships and Certifications – Alumnus CCRN, AACN member

 Personal Interests – the beach, reading, owning an Italian restaurant, learning to relax

 The most unique thing about our program is…resources for the students along with the interaction among the students and the faculty members
