Teaching Philosophy:
Teaching/learning is an interactive and reciprocal process conducted to
facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to critically think
and make independent judgments. Learning is a life long process with the teacher
responsible for facilitating learning, and the student responsible and
accountable for her/his own learning. When students are committed to taking
charge of their own learning, they learn best. The teacher promotes learning by
using a variety of teaching strategies including role modeling, mentoring and
coaching within a caring environment. Courses taught: Undergraduate level: Leadership/Management, Community Health, Adult Health, and Research Graduate level: Nursing Theories, Health Systems Leadership, Research, Issues, and Adult Health Courses Education: BSN Nursing; MSN Adult Health, Teaching; PhD Educational Administration, Nursing Areas of Expertise or Professional Interests: Nursing Theory, Quantitative Research, Pain Assessment in Older Minority Adults Research Program: Pain Assessment and Management of Pain in Older Adults Honors and Awards:
