Teaching Philosophy:
Teaching/learning is an interactive and reciprocal process conducted to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to critically think and make independent judgments. Learning is a life long process with the teacher responsible for facilitating learning, and the student responsible and accountable for her/his own learning. When students are committed to taking charge of their own learning, they learn best. The teacher promotes learning by using a variety of teaching strategies including role modeling, mentoring and coaching within a caring environment.
As part of the teaching learning process, faculty and students must enter into a relationship based on trust, integrity, accountability, and caring. Learning is facilitated in an environment that reflects a caring philosophy. Although ultimate responsibility lies with the student, it is the role of faculty to facilitate the development of necessary knowledge and skills in order for our graduates to be successful in pursuing their life’s goals and ambitions.
