Sigma Theta Tau
Pi Nu Chapter
Welcome to the fall, 2008 edition of the Pi Nu Chapter’s newsletter, an electronic newsletter for members of Pi Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
This edition features a message from the Chapter President, Pamela Horvath, a list of the current chapter officers, a call for applications for research seed grants, fundraising, a calendar of coming chapter events, member news and information about the chapter website. Members who have information that they would like to see printed in the next newsletter are cordially invited to send their items to the chapter’s newsletter committee. Additionally, the newsletter committee requests that each active member of Pi Nu Chapter send an updated e-mail address to email@example.com.
The quarterly newsletter will be available on the UWG, School of Nursing website during the coming year.
Greetings from the President:
Welcome to a new year in the life of Pi Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. I would like to thank all members who have worked towards making our chapter successful. We have achieved much during the past year.
During the spring induction ceremony, membership was increased with the induction of 33 new members while more than 150 guests joined the celebration. Karen Morin, RN, DSN, President Elect of Sigma Theta Tau International was the key- note speaker for the ceremony and her attendance made the event even more special. Kathryn Grams, PhD, RN delivered the welcoming address.
The Board of Directors has been meeting regularly to complete plans for meetings and activities during the coming year. Anyone interested in serving on a committee please contact Pamela Horvath, firstname.lastname@example.org . Two program meetings that will offer CEU’s to the attendees are scheduled as well as an annual business meeting and induction ceremony.
Our current fundraising project will be a Pi Nu cookbook. Members are asked to contribute their favorite recipes to the effort. We are excited to share recipes with one another and earn funds for our chapter. To submit a recipe, please go to http://www.cookbookpublishers.com and click on the “utypeit” icon (in green). The login and password is “pinurecipes”. Then select “Add a Recipe” on the left hand side. Recipes will be accepted until the submission deadline of Saturday, November 15, 2008. When you type in your recipe, please be very specific on ingredients, quantities and instructions so that ANYONE with no kitchen experience could follow the instructions. Pre-sale information will be distributed in the next newsletter.
A newsletter will be written quarterly and sent to all members electronically. The newsletter committee hopes that members will contribute to this effort by submitting articles, information or any items that they think will be of interest to the general membership.
This is an exciting time for Pi Nu Chapter. Your chapter president and the Board of Directors strongly urges all members to get involved with the chapter and help in its efforts to grow and meet the goals of the chapter. These goals include:
• Recognize superior achievement by members.
• Recognize the development of leadership qualities.
• Foster high professional standards.
• Encourage creative work.
• Strengthen commitment to the ideas and purpose of the profession.
Your assistance in meeting these goals will be greatly appreciated.
