Dr. Tom Carrere  Reviews West Georgia Chapter's History At Fall Initiation

   The Fall initiates of Phi Delta Kappa and regular members were treated to a brief history of the establishment of the West Georgia Chapter by Dr. Tom Carrere. 
   Dr. Carrere pointed out that Dr. Jesse Burbage was the guiding force behind the beginning of the West Georgia Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. 
   In 1972, Dr. Burbage, along with 30 other faculty members at West Georgia College, who were PDK members, began the steps necessary to establish a PDK chapter at our college.
   They operated as a club for two years.  During that time they demonstrated that they could meet the PDK International requirements for a chapter.  Therefore, in July, 1974 this core group of thirty-one faculty members and forty new initiates  formed the charter membership of our West Georgia Chapter.
   The West Georgia Chapter also had the distinction

   The April 8, 1999, Phi Delta Kappa Spring Initiation , will recognize new members for the West Georgia Chapter.  Speakers for the evening will be University of West Georgia  President, Dr. Beheruz Sethna and Mrs. Sethna.
   The event will be held in the President's Dining Room located in Z-6 at 6:30 P.M.
