We were fortunate to have both candidates for State School Superintendent on the UWG campus to share their positions.  On behalf of the chapter officers I want to thank those members who helped make our Education Forum a success.   Thank you for bringing students and thank you for the penetrating questions directed to the candidates
Each of the candidates was recognized with a West Georgia Chapter
Friend of Education Award  for their years of professional and personal dedication to education and to the children of Georgia.  They also received a Phi Delta Kappa coffee mug to remind them of their continuing role in education and their responsibility for Georgia education.

Kappa International is to promote quality education, with particular emphasis on publicly-supported education as essential to the development and maintenance of a democratic way of life.  In keeping with the mission of  PDK, our West Georgia Chapter sponsored an Education Forum with candidates for State School Superintendent, incumbent  Linda Schrenko, and Joe Martin.  Each candidate was given an opportunity to state their position on Georgia education and the role of the Superintendent before responding to questions from the audience. The candidates spoke on school safety, school funding, Charter schools, and  the accountability of local school boards.
With more questions than time, the candidates were given remaining questions with the hope and expectation that the questions and topics will provide the candidates with insights into the issues regarded critical to education.
