Benefits of Membership

View the Phi Simga Tau Certificate

Being in a University Honor Society has a certain type of benefits unenjoyed elsewhere. The comraderie, learning, and academic support found in Phi Sigma Tau are no different. Not only does membership in the Society look good on a Graduate School application or a resume, the chapter allows members to expand their contacts within the Philosophical community, possibly publish their work (in the student-driven publication Dialogue), the right to wear an Honor Stole at graduation and enhance the value of their education. In addition to these intangible benefits, membership and the accompanying fee provide for the student a subscription to the twice-yearly Dialogue, the thrice-yearly PST Newsletter, and a certificate suitable for framing.

Membership Requirements

Undergraduate Students who wish to apply for membership in the Georgia Iota Chapter must possess at least a 3.0 Overall/Institutional GPA, have taken at least 2 Philosophy courses, possess higher than a 3.0 GPA in all of the Philosophy courses taken, and have at least 3 semesters under their belt. Membership in the Chapter is not limited to Philosophy Majors or Minors and is open to anyone who meets the above requirements.
