Course Description:
Techniques for understanding individual personality
and behavior such as observation, interviewing, and tests of ability, achievement,
interest, motivation, and social characteristics. Same as Cepd 6151.
Course Objectives:
· to understand the principles and uses of assessment in education and psychology
· to use and interpret test scores to help make decisions about individuals
· to evaluate the quality of an assessment device using the standard technical characteristics
· examine the various types of psychological instruments to assess the psychological characteristics of an individual
· examine non-standard tools and techniques
used to assess the psychological characteristics of individuals

Course Requirements:
· critiques of 2 different types of tests are required; the technical manual that accompanies the tests and the Mental measurements yearbook should be used.
· administer two tests to a classmate and write up the results
· administer a series of tests to an individual and write a case study describing the results
· mid-term will be administered covering the technical characteristics of a test
· attendance
· read all assignments, participation in class discussions, and completing all in-class assignments
