PSYC 6393 - Personality Disorders


Course Description:

An exploration of the nature, dynamics and etiology of those psychological disorders termed personality disorders.” Overall description and subtype classification will be discussed from traditional and phenomenological approaches.
 

Course Objectives :

· the ability to understand and discriminate the features of personality disorders, and to distinguish them from other forms of disorder

· in-depth understanding of Narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorders

· a knowledge of the features and overall approach of Self Psychology

· an ability to apply that understanding in the analysis of concrete instances of behavior

· an increased ability to understand, analyze, and synthesize this knowledge in an understanding of self and other people
