LECTURE SERIES
The 2007 Jim Klee Forum, annually sponsored by the Psychology Department, will be held on the evening of Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Kathy Cashen Hall. The keynote speaker will be Peter Russell, M.A., D.C.S., a former theoretical and experimental physicist who later turned his attention to the nature of consciousness and the psychophysiology of meditation. His talk will be titled, The Mystery of Consciousness: Scientific and Mystical Perspectives on the Nature of Mind. Russell, who was one of the first people to introduce human potential seminars into the corporate field, has authored several books and is a popular keynote speaker at international conferences. He is considered by many as a contemporary visionary and one of the clearest thinkers on spirituality in modern times.
The forum festivities begin with a reception in the lobby of Kathy Cashen Hall at 6:30 pm, with Introductions and Musical Interlude at 7:00 pm and the Keynote Presentation from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Russell will also present a workshop titled, The Art of Letting Go, on Friday morning, March 16, 9 am to 1 pm, in Room 105 of the Martha Monro Building, UWG campus. In this workshop, Russell will explore the various ways we hold on, the nature of letting go, and some of the ways to release the mind from accumulated attachments.
Admission to the Thursday evening lecture is free of charge. The Friday morning workshop costs $50 for regular admission, $25 with student ID. CEUs are available for both programs. Obtaining a CEU certificate costs $5. For further information, contact Alan Pope, Ph.D., Department of Psychology, apope@westga.edu, 678-839-0601.
We hope to see you there!
