A Word about West Georgia:
Department, Campus, and Community

In 1968, on a request to him from the West Georgia psychology faculty, Abraham Maslow recommended a new department chair. With full support from their Dean, the bold faculty, bucking the conventional, created a new vision and ambiance fostering the personal growth of the student and exploration of what it means to be fully human. Forty-five new courses were installed the first year. The program burgeoned immediately and, 30 years later stands out as one of the vital international centers for the teaching and study of existential, phenomenological, humanistic and transpersonal psychologies.

The campus of University of West Georgia, home to 9,000 students, is located 45 miles SW of Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, in a rolling, wooded area of the State's Piedmont region. The spacious, beautifully-landscaped campus sits at the edge of Carrollton, a city of approximately 15,000. The dorm, dining, meeting and recreation-creativity areas for OS2 are all located within walking distance to add to the familial atmosphere of OS2. Trails, tennis courts, a pool, and a track are also located nearby the dorm.
