The doctoral program in Individual, Organizational, and Community Transformation is dedicated to preparing a new kind of psychologist to meet the unprecedented challenges of the 21st century. The preparation entails focused exploration of the dynamic interface between consciousness and society, individual experience and collective structures.  The University of West Georgia's doctoral program invites students to pursue their own interests with global understanding and local sensitivity. Students, in turn, will become the agents of sustainable change in the fields of education, health care, social services, government, religion, non-profit and corporate settings and beyond.  A variety of theoretical perspectives support the exploration:

  • humanistic
  • transpersonal
  • existential-phenomenological
  • interdisciplinary research and scholarly work
  • social justice
  • community approaches
  • critical and psycho-social approaches in discursive and psychoanalytic traditions
  • Eastern and Western spiritual and wisdom traditions
  • Integrative Health approaches to psychology
