DocuTech Instructions for PC Users

A PC user can submit documents for printing to the DocuTech by selecting the DocuTech print driver while working in any PC software application. In order to submit print jobs to the DocuTech in the Publications and Printing office, the ITS HelpDesk must first install a DocuTech driver on your computer and link that driver to the correct DocuTech print queue.

For Windows 95:

  1. When your driver dialog box opens, you can select special print options that are unique to the DocuTech by selecting PROPERTIES.
  2. To provide the Print Shop with information about your print job, go to the XEROX page and select JOB NOTES (4th icon from left), or select the SETTINGS pulldown menu and JOB NOTES. This opens a dialog box that lets the PC user enter the following information:
    • ACCOUNT NUMBER (Enter your department's account number.)
    • FROM (Enter document owner's name.)
    • DELIVER TO (Enter special instructions about who is to be contacted -- by phone or e-mail -- when the job is ready.)
    • TELEPHONE (Enter your extension.)
  3. Once the information has been entered, select OK.

 

For Windows 3.1x:

  1. Select FILE, PRINT, then SELECT. From the pulldown menu, select the DocuTech as your printer. Click on OPTIONS and SET-UP. A job ticket form will appear. Make your selections for paper, fonts, etc, from the options given on each page. Click on the tab at the top of the page to move to the next set of choices.
  2. Click on the notepad icon (4th icon from left), or select SETTINGS from the pulldown menu at the top of the form. This opens a dialog box that lets the PC user enter the following information:
    • ACCOUNT NUMBER (Enter your department's account number.)
    • FROM (Enter document owner's name.)
    • DELIVER TO (Enter special instructions about who is to be contacted -- by phone or e-mail -- when the job is ready.)
    • TELEPHONE (Enter your extension.)
  3. Once the information has been entered, select OK.
  4. In the SELECT PRINTER window, you must choose SELECT to activate your choices. Then click PRINT.
  5. Important: Remember to go back to the Print Control window and reset the default printer to your normal printer. Otherwise, all subsequent print jobs will continue to go to the DocuTech.
