Day 1:    Overnight flight from Atlanta to New York to Cairo.

Day 2:    Arrival in Cairo in early aft= ernoon, free time, welcome dinner

Day 3:    Visit Egyptian Museum= with King Tut’s treasures, tour the old city,= visit to mosqu= e,

        =        And ending with time in the ancient bazaar of Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.  This bazaar is

        =        marvelous!!

Day 4:    Visit village of Kerdassa for carpet school, travel o= n to Memphis for tour = and visit to

        =        The ancient burial site for over 3000 years, visit to oldest survivi= ng stone building in

        =        the world – Step Pyramid of Kin Zoser, then on the magnificent Pyramids and the

        =        mysterious Sphinx.

Day 5:    Flight to Luxor, transfer to cruise ship, tour the gigantic te= mples of Luxor and Karnak

        =        words cannot describe the awesomeness of these temples.  They a= re unreal!!<= /span>

Day 6:    Take a boat t= o the west bank of the Nile and pass through the ancient town of Thebes to the

        =        Valley of the Kings.  Here is where King Tut’s tomb lies.  Visit t= he tombs of Ramses III,

        =        Ramses VI and Thuthmose III.  Conti= nue on to visit Queen Hatshepsut’s impressive temple. 

        =        Following this visit we will stop at the giant Colossi of Memnon and return to ship.  Begin

        =        our cruise down the Nile where yo= u will see that little has changed from 4000 years ago.

Day 7:    (Nile Cruise) Arrive in Edfu and take a horse carriage to the= Temple of Horus, Egypt’s best

        =        preserved temple.  Continue the cruise to the Temple of Kom Ombo, set dramatically on a

        =        hill overlooking the Nile.=

Day 8:    Arrive in Aswan.  This afternoon, explore the Nile in an a= ncient Felucca sailboat and from

        =        here admire Elphantine Island, the Botanical Garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum.  Then

        =        visit the Philae Temple, one of the = last places where ancient Egyptian religions flourished.

Day 9:    Visit Aswan H= igh Dam, visit the local granite quarries to learn how the giant stones were

           =     carved for obelisk and temples.  OR - take an optional early morning excursio= n to Abu

        =        Simbel.  This giant monument was built by Ramses II as a tribut= e to his favorite wife

        =        Nefertari  Late afternoon, fly to <= st1:City w:st=3D"on">Cairo and travel by road to <= st1:City w:st=3D"on">Alexandria for a late evening

        =        arrival.=

Day 10:    Tour of Alexandria where = we will see Pompey’s Pillar, the remains of the Serapeum=

        =          Temple and the Nilometer - measuring the annual Nile Floods.  Visit the Roman

        =          Amphithester and the ancient great libra= ry of Alexandria.

Day 11:    Morning free= in Alexandria.  Afternoon flight back to Cairo= .  Enjoy a farewell dinner on a

        =          floating restaurant on the Nile w= ith belly dancing and international cuisine.

Day 12:    Fly home - <= st1:City w:st=3D"on">Cairo to New York= to Atlanta
