Dear Friends

We are planning another travel adventure to Europe for May 18th - 30th, 2005.  As many of you know, we have taken individuals and families to Europe for the past eleven summers.  As educators, we feel that travel is a most beneficial and rewarding experience.  Leland is a professor of Economics at the University of West Georgia and Gherry is a former teacher of gifted students in Carroll County, Georgia.  Together we try to give you  a trip that has unique experiences and exposes you to the people as well as the history of each culture.

We would like you to join us next spring (2005) as we take a Sound of Music land and cruise tour of Germany, Austria, and Hungary using the Viking River Cruise Line.  The following are some of the sites we  will visit:

Munich - the starting point for the Bavarian Alps

Neuschwanstein - the fairytale castle of Ludwig the mad King of Bavaria

Innsbruck - this charming Austrian town was the sight of two winter Olympics (64', 76')

Salzburg - the town where the 'Sound of Music' was filmed & the birthplace of Mozart

Berchtesgarten - Hitler's summer retreat and famed 'Eagles Nest' - lovely alpine town

Lake Chiemsee, Herrenchemisee Castle - Its inspiration came from the Palace of Versailles in Paris and it even has its own “Hall of Mirrors.”

Danube River - we will cruise for seven days along the beautiful Danube river

Nuremburg - location for the post-World War II war crimes trials of the Nazis. These trials were immortalized in the 1961 film, Judgment at Nuremberg.

Regensburg - Having escaped major damage during World War II, the picturesque town of Regensburg, is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities and the oldest city along the Danube

Passau - enchanting Passau is home to charming cobblestone streets, elegantly colored building facades,  graceful arcades and the world's largest church organ with more than 17,000 pipes, which is still used for concerts today

Vienna - the capital of Austria is known as the "City of Waltzes," Vienna is considered the center of classical music, where Strauss, Beethoven and Mozart composed many of their finest pieces

Budapest - the exotic capital of Hungary straddles the banks of the Danube and is aptly called "Paris of the East," for its beautiful evening illumination and reflected lights in the Danube's waters.

Absorbing the culture, sights, and magnificent scenery will be a trip you will never forget.
