Ointment for Enucleating Preparation
Using the methods of Dr. John Pattison,
Ingrid has developed a base ointment that can be adapted the
needs of the situation. It contains: goldenseal root powder,
white willow bark, red sandalwood, and turmeric in a base of
apricot kernel oil with CO2 processed calendula and turmeric
oleoresin. Practitioners can add an escharotic paste or zinc
chloride to this base in a manner that controls the aggressivity
of the process.
Bloodroot
Salve
This is from El Milagro Herbs and contains
bloodroot, chaparral, hierba mansa, and red clover in a base
of olive oil and beeswax. Special order only.
Cherokee
Salve
This ointment is made with bloodroot
and galangal in a castor oil base, similar in process to Golden
Myrrical but with a broader range of applications. It comes in
three sizes, does not contain zinc chloride, and must be customized
by the practitioner for each application.

Cerate Belladonna and Belladonna
Cream
Dr. Eli G. Jones described many specific
treatments in his book. One of these was a thick ointment applied
directly to breasts where the lump was very hard and knotty.
The original ointment contained phytolacca, arnica, and belladonna
in a base of olive oil and beeswax. We reformulated the ointment
by adding essential oils of lemon and lime as well as geranium.
The treatment needs to be continued for two months beyond the
disappearance of the mass. It should not be applied on open skin
because of the arnica. Recently, we developed a softer, more
penetrable cream using the same ingredients but less beeswax.
Fox
Liniment and Fox
Cream
This is actually a combination of extracts:
blue flag, red clover, and bloodroot. The formula was first published
by Dr. William Fox in 1852. He said the applications seldom failed
but that advanced conditions needed to be poulticed. It
is applied as a liniment on gauze that is saturated with the
solution. On very thin tissue, it works elegantly. We
now offer this in a cream form that retains moisture better and
lends itself to being massaged into the affected tissue. See
the pictures of the horse.
German
Kermesberro
This drawing salve is Dr. John Christopher
product. It is very detoxifying and soothing. It contains: chaparral,
comfrey root, red clover blossoms, pine tar, mullein, bees wax,
plantain, poke root, olive oil, soy oil, and tallow. Dr. Christopher
used it in a manner similar to the yellow healing or drawing
salves that are often used after the bloodroot paste.
Golden
Myrrical
This product is useful after eschars
have detached and can be used for a few days to prevent closure
of the site while observing the area and checking for residual.
It tends to dissolve morbid matter at the surface but not deeper
down. It contains: goldenseal root powder, myrrh gum, and
Irish moss in a base of castor oil and CO2 processed calendula.
Feathered
Turtle Crème
Developed for immediate post-surgical
or post-escharotic use when the primary goal is to avoid scarring
and recurrence.
Phytolacca
Cerate
This is another Dr. Eli G. Jones product.
He recommended this for use on scar tissue related to breast
cancer, but most people who have been using this product have
also applied it on swollen lymph nodes. It requires perseverance,
but professional massage therapists have been getting good results.
This product was recently reformulated and now contains essential
oils of lemon, lime, and bay laurel in addition to the poke root,
olive oil, and beeswax.
Red
Sun Balm
This is a Dr. John Christopher formula
that can be used as an escharotic or in combination with an escharotic.
It also tends to be effective with sebaceous cysts. It contains:
olive oil, capsicum, oil of wintergreen, pure distilled mint
crystals, and other fragrances in an untreated wax base.
Violet
Salve
This product is sometimes available in
small quantities, either imported from Germany or produced by
herbalists who gathered a few flowers in season while hiking
or working in the garden. It is based on the Hildegard of Bingen
formula and varies according to the source.
Coptis
This is a Chinese herb high in berberines.
When made as a strong tea and refrigerated, it makes an excellent
wash to relieve itching.
Pipsissewa
This is a Native American treatment for
ulcerated sores. It is also made as a strong decoction. It is
applied to a clean cloth that is saturated with the liquid and
held over the wound. It could cause scarring unless follow up
treatment is careful.
Poultice
Powder
This is a combination of herbsthat
can varythat is applied directly to suppurating wounds.
Whenever there is discharge, poultices can be applied to absorb
and disinfect the site.
Herbal
Bolus Powder
These suppositories can be used vaginally
or rectally to detoxify the reproductive and eliminatory systems. The
powder can also be mixed with water and used as a poultice to
relieve itchiness and inflammation.
