Residence Life Experience_________________________________________________

            RESIDENT ASSISTANT                           Austin College, August 2000 ­ Present

 

Ø     Develop community as a part of the mission statement of Austin College

Ø     Facilitate the development and interaction of 20-50 residents working with both upperclassmen and first year students.  

Ø     Assist with the total management of an all male residence hall in collaboration with staff and supervisor.

Ø     Provide personal and academic support to residents through direct assistance or referrals.

Ø     Assist residents in the development of community standards, roommate contracts and living plans.

Ø     Facilitate and assist with Resident Assistant recruiting, selection, and training

Ø     Serve as a mentor and role model to other Resident Assistants

Ø     Respond to emergency situations, enforce college policies, and document student conduct violations

Ø     Provide social and educational programs that fit the needs of the residents.

Ø     Maintain office hours and participate in duty rotation with fellow staff members

            AQUATICS DIRECTOR                  NETSEO Trails Council B.S.A., Summer 2002 

 

Ø     Managed the daily operations and maintained safety procedures for a waterfront program at a residential summer camp.

Ø     Planned and implemented a class schedule program for all campers.

Ø     Provided training and supervision for four college-age lifeguards, which included certification instruction.

Ø     Provided water safety instruction for boys ages 12-17 in the areas of swimming, lifesaving, rowing, and canoeing.
