Having developed an idea for a paper on Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour," write a 1,000 word essay on one of these areas related to the story: 1) characters, 2) Historical period and background, 3) social and economic conditions, 4) major ideas, 5) artistic qualities. Review the first chapter of Roberts as necessary to complete the assignment. Draft and outline are due January 23. Final drafts are due January 30. Papers must be typed, double-spaced, with one inch margins all around. References to the story should be cited with parenthetical page numbers in your text. Do not use a cover page.
