Due: April 30 by 5:00 p.m.

General Directions:   In consultation with the instructor you will develop a topic directly related to American literature and write a 10-12 page paper scholarly paper on that topic..  In the paper you must provide logical and well organized evidence to support an original thesis, include references to relevant secondary sources of information,  and follow standard MLA form for documentation. Approval of topic by instuctor in advance is required.  Topics may be related to writers we have studied, expanded to include additional readings, or (with approval of the instructor) focused on a significant American writer not included in our readings.
