Essay topics for final exam:

optional, for extra credit

You will be given a form on which to write your essay during the exam period.  You may prepare by thinking about the topic you choose and by gathering information from your notes and your textbook, but you must write the essay off the top of your head during that time, without consulting the notes or text.

1) Choose a specific period/stylistic movement of art history and discuss its distinctive characteristics, citing specific works which demonstrate the spirit of the movement/style/era in definitive ways.  Thoroughly discuss at least three different artists/works, from among those we have studied this term.

2) Select 3 works of art we have studied which demonstrate the concern of the artists with particular formal issues.  Show how the use of these formal issues is related to the content of the works you discuss.
