Term Project proposal due February 13th
Visit the High Museum website for directions and details
http://www.high.org/
- Go the the High Museum, with the lists provided in separate links on this
website, and view the works on display. (I cannot guarantee that all the works
on my list will be available the day you visit, as the museum often changes
their displays -- however there are so many on the list, you will surely find
something among them.)
- Keep your receipt from the Museum -- bring it to class when we meet
on February 19th
- Select at least one work from the museum list that will be central to your
term project (see directions for options 1 and 2 for ideas on how to select).
- Conduct preliminary research to determine that there are sufficient
resources (scholarly books and journal articles NOT web material) for your
study.
- Write a 1-3 paragraph theme/thesis statement in which you explain
what your idea for the project is and how you will proceed. Obviously this
may change as you do research and think about what you have learned, but start
with a working thesis, and be clear and specific about your intended purpose..
- Create a working bibliography of at least 4 sources.
- State whether you want to create a catalogue or a more traditional term
paper or some other form of presentation, with a paper documentation.
- remember to gather the images you will need for the ultimate paper as you
go along.
- If you have a different approach in mind, discuss it with me personally,
before you go to the Museum.
- If you need more help in getting started, come see me during office hours
before you go to the Museum.
What you need to turn in:
- museum receipt - write your name on it, bring to me on February 19th
- typed, labelled thesis statement, including statement of intention to
create catalogue or term paper or other form of presentation
- working bibliography
- annotated bibliography (separate directions will be posted for that)
