Writing Assignments/Article Responses

Due January 31, February 19, March 11

There is a list of scholarly journal articles on electronic reserve on the Ingram Library website.  (Password is 4208B)  If you access from campus computer location, you should be able to access directly; if off-campus, you will need the current library password.  These are linked to J-Stor or EBSCO, so they are online, in journal format, fully illustrated.  You can read them on-line or print them for yourself.  These are your choices for the writing assignments, and may also prove useful for your research topics. The list is in process, and will be expanded as I am able to do so.

For each of the writing assignments, you should select one of the articles, read it thoroughly and carefully and thoughtfully, then write a response paper of 2-4 pages.  Do not write a summary or review, rather a thoughtful response to what you glean of the author's presentation and position.  Do you find their argument compelling or convincing?  Did they provoke you to examine a work or a movement or an artist more closely or to revise your opinion about something?  Be specific about the points of their presentation to which you are responding.

The first writing assignment is set up to be submitted online, through WebCT Vista.  Go to the class WebCT Vista site and find the submission site under ASSIGNMENTS.  Follow the directions for preparation in MSWord and submission of the article response as an attachment.   If you have difficulties with the process, call WebCT for help. (678-839-6248)  For optional Museum Object Writing Assignment, see separate link from website home page.
