OLD BUSINESS
-
Alex Young presented the responses she received by
e-mail regarding the Staff Advisory Council’s logo for the conference to
be held in October 2002 here at the State University of West Georgia.
There was a tie “Pulling together in the Millennium” and “Coming together
to make the university system better.” The Staff Advisory Council
voted on the Staff Advisory Conference logo. It was decided
to use “Working together to make the university system better” with an
image of the university seal with a glow and a couple of people around.
-
The Staff Advisory Council discussed the Staff Day
T-shirt logo. Debbie McKenzie will head the committee along with
Alex Young and Jill Wright. Staff will need to pay for their own
shirts this year. E-mails will be sent to all staff regarding ordering
these shirts. A date has not been set yet for Staff Day. Charlotte
Kraft will update the Staff Council once a date has been established.
-
It was decided that it was too late to get a team together
from the University this year to participate in the Relay for Life.
The Carrollton Relay for Life will be held April 17.
The Council will try to plan earlier next year for this event.
-
The Council has located several typewriters for students
to use to type forms. A centralized place will be established to
place the typewriters for students to use.
-
The Council discussed the conference committee to work
with Continuing Education to make decisions for the Staff Advisory Council
Conference in 2002. Erma Shooks will head the committee. Volunteers
to work on the committee will be Tim North, Jill Wright, Alex Young and
Tracy Hester.
-
Clois and Erma handed out the minutes and gave a report
on the USGSC Meeting that was held on February 23, 2001 at Macon State.
The main topic of discussion was changing an employee’s vested years from
5 as opposed to 10 years. The next meeting will be held June 15,
2001 at Macon College.
-
Clois informed the council that Robert Jennings, Director
of the Townsend Center, is planning a Jazz concert for the 2002 Brunch
for Toys. There will be more on this topic, later in the year.
-
The council discussed the workshop topics for the Staff
Advisory Conference in 2002. Clois informed the council that she
had attended a Crime Prevention workshop on campus and stated that it was
very good and informative. This workshop will be added to the list
of suggested workshop topics.
NEW BUSINESS
-
Charlotte Kraft of the Human Resouces Department discussed
the University’s Tuition Remission/Reimbursement Program Policy and gave
an update on the Staff Day event.
-
The next Staff Advisory Council meeting will be April
18, 2001 at 10:00am in the Arts & Science’s Conference Room
-
The Staff Advisory Council welcomed Dr. Walter Todd
to the meeting. Dr. Todd will serve as an advisor to the council.
