STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES
November 16, 2000

Clois Reese called the meeting to order at 3:08 pm

The minutes from the last meeting were approved as printed.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Robert Jennings updated the Staff Advisory Council on the “Rudolph
to Rescue -
Brunch for Toys”. Posters were put up in most of the campus buildings,
e-mails have been/and will be sent to all-staff, postcards will be sent
to community residents and several ads will be placed in the Times-Georgian
newspaper to remind people of this event. Clois Reese complimented
Robert on one the e-mail that staff received earlier in the week regarding
this event. The reception will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Staff were requested to bring toys or make a monetary donation. ARA
will set-up a refreshment table for about 250 staff members starting at
10:00 am. Staff will decorate the black box and tree from 8:30 am
to 10:30 am. The evening dessert reception will be held from 7:00
pm to 7:50 pm with the orchestra performance to begin at 8:00 pm.
Several Staff Advisory Council members will need to be on hand to take
toys and monetary donations from attendants.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Clois asked Elaine Harper to head the committee to obtain door prizes for the Staff Advisory Conference that is to be held in 2002 at West Georgia.
B. The Staff Advisory Council discussed including a Staff Advisory Council Book Mark that lists the accomplishments of the council in with the packet that HR gives to new employees. Clois will discuss this idea Charlotte Kraft, Training Coordinator for Human Resouces.
C. Clois brought several catalogs that have unique merchandise that we can buy to give away at the Staff Advisory Conference in 2002.
D. The Staff Advisory Council discussed a logo for the conference.
Alex Young and
Erma Shooks will work on this project.
E. The Staff Advisory Council discussed ways to make money for the conference.
The idea to hold another bake sale on Monday, January 8th, (first day
of classes) was discussed. This idea will be discussed at the holiday
break. An idea of putting together a cookbook was also discussed.
F. The Staff Advisory Council discussed a memo from Mr. Gauthier, regarding “Calendar Year 2001 Holidays”. In 2001 “the University will be closed on Memorial Day, May 28, 2001 to commemorate members of the armed forces killed in war”. Staff can either use 8 hours of annual leave or work an additional 8 hours that week, spread over the next four days, Tuesday May 29th through Friday, June 1st.
G. Alex suggested giving staff pens and pencils for staff day. This idea will be discussed at a future meeting.
H. The Staff Advisory Council discussed the wonderful design of the
new TLC building.
