STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES

Erma Shooks called the meeting to order at 2:10pm

Attending Members:

The minutes from the last meeting were approved as printed.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Erma informed the "council" that she had asked David Parkman to contact Tracy Stallings to speak at our conference in the fall. Mr. Parkman asked that we gather questions that would be asked to Mr. Stallings. Erma will poll the State Staff Advisory Council representatives to see what questions they would like to ask. One question that the "council" discussed was the senate passing the bill to offer faculty and staff retirement after 25 years of service.

  2. The "council" discussed purchasing stickers, pens, cups, note pads, etc. to give away at the conference. A committee will be established to research the cost of these items.

  3. The "council discussed workshop topics for the conference.

  4. A "name tag" sign-up sheet was distributed. Each member will be responsible for purchasing his/her own "name tag".

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Jill reported West Georgia's plans for The American Cancer Society-Relay for Life. The Relay is scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2002.

  2. Erma reminded the "council" that there is a State Staff Advisory Council Meeting on Friday, February 22, 2002. The van will leave at 8:00 am from Facilities. The next State meeting will be in June.

  3. The "council" discussed "Staff Day 2002". Jill will contact Charlotte for the details of the event.

  4. The "council" decided to purchase polo shirts to wear during the conference. This idea will be discussed in further detail at the next meeting.
