OLD BUSINESS
A. The Staff Council discussed devising an election committee to assist in nominating officers for the New Year, to take office in July. The committee will consist of Jill Wright, Debbie McKenzie and Alex Young.
B. Clois asked the members
of Staff Council if any of the current officers would like to volunteer for
another term. Alex Young will return as Treasure/Technical Advisor and Jill
Wright will serve as Secretary. Debbie McKenzie will serve as Assistant Secretary.
Jill will send out an e-mail requesting nominations and/or volunteers to serve
on the Staff Council.
C . The Staff Council
discussed nominating the following members for Staff Council officers for the
new year: Erma Shooks and/or Tim North as president, Wanda Nelson and/or Tim
North as Vice President. Clois will ask Wanda if she would be interested in
being nominated as Vice President. Suzanne Horton will ask Tim North.
D. The Staff Council discussed
the Staff Advisory Council Conference that is to be held here at the State University
of West Georgia in October 2002. Jill informed the Staff Council that the "Run
for A-Day" is usually held the first Thursday in the month of October,
which will be the Staff Council Conference check-in day. The Staff Council discussed
incorporating the "Run for A-Day" into the conference. Gifts for the
attendees for the conference were discussed: Water bottle, cardholder and cups.
It was discussed to ask Dr. Todd if he could draw a logo for items being given
away at the conference. Erma Shooks and Alex Young will meet with Dr. Todd to
discuss this idea. Erma will set up a meeting with Rich Brown of the Continuing
Education Department to plan the conference.
Erma will try to schedule this meeting the week of July 16th or after.
E. The Staff Council discussed giving out stadium cups to staff for Staff Appreciation Day 2002. The Staff Council will again ask Dr. Todd if he can draw a picture to put on the cup.
F. In item #J in last month's meeting the Staff Council discussed sponsoring a year-end bash and invite staff to attend. It was decided to table this idea for later in the year, since we just celebrate Staff Day etc.
G. Clois gave Jill another $1.00 that someone had sent her to contribute to the Rape Crisis Center. This now brings our total to $1340.00.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Clois gave the Staff Council members a draft copy of the USGSC minutes from the June 15th state meeting.
B. Debbie updated the Staff Council on the T-shirts sold for Staff Day 2001. The council made about $300.00 for their account. One T-shirt was left. It was decided to give Bonnie Purcell the last T-shirt since she was retiring soon.
C. Clois informed the Staff Council that she would be giving Charlotte Kraft copies of the updated bookmark to include in the new hirers Human Resources packets.
D. Clois thanked Elaine Nugent
for all the hard work she did on obtaining door prizes for Staff Day. We have
confidence that Elaine will do an excellent job in obtaining door prizes for
our Staff Council Conference. Erma suggested we all e-mail Elaine thanking her
for the wonderful job she did in collecting the door prizes.
E. The next Staff Advisory Council Meeting will be held July 19th, 2001
in Intramurals.
