OLD BUSINESS

B. Debbie McKenzie informed the Staff Council that Staff Day T-shirt sells went very well. Debbie is still collecting money for the T-shirts and will make a final deposit once all the money is collected. The council still has 6 T-shirts to sell. Jill Wright will send out an e-mail to all staff and ask staff to contact Clois Reese if they would like to purchase a Staff Day T-shirt. Debbie will update the Staff Council on the amount of money that was raised for the T-shirts at the next meeting.
C. The Staff Council purchased Staff Day T-shirts and plaques to give to Frances Miller and Anita Thomas for their contribution and hard work for the University and the Staff Council. Frances and Anita were unable to attend Staff Day, so Erma Shooks will ensure that Frances and Anita receive their awards and T-shirts.
D. Erma informed the Staff Council that thank you letters had been sent to all business' that contributed door prizes for Staff Day. We want to thank Erma Shooks, Teresa Ock and Elaine Nugent for sending the thank you cards.
E. Clois stated that she hopes that the Staff Council will have door prizes like the ones given at Staff Day for the Staff Council Conference that is to be held here at the State University of West Georgia in 2002.
F. Clois Reese and Jill Wright informed the Staff Council that $1,339.00 was raised for Casual Day for the Carroll Rape Crisis Center. Clois thanked everyone who contributed to this worthy cause.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Celeste Turner suggested that shelves be installed in the bathroom
for students to put their books on while in the bathrooms. It was suggested
that this issue be discussed the Lynn Agan or Bob Watkins in Facilities. This
might be an issue for Student Activities instead of Staff Council.
B. Clois Reese informed the Staff Council to nominate offices for the New Year, so they may take office July 1, 2001. Clois will ask Dr. Sentha to send a letter to all the deans' etc. requesting that they allow a staff member from each division/area to attend the Staff Council Meetings. Once this letter is sent, Jill will send an e-mail to all-staff asking for nominees.
C. Dr. Todd suggested that the Staff Council put articles in the Campus Chronicle stating what the Staff Council does for the University. Also, the articles need to state when the next meeting is to take place so staff may attend.
D. Erma suggested the Staff Advisory Council sponsoring a year in bash and invite staff to attend. It was suggested that the bash (party) be held in the new TLC building so staff members could tour the new building. A committee was formed to plan this event. The committee will consist of : Erma Shooks, Debbie McKenzie, Robin Witcher, Celeste Turner and Alex Young. Erma will head this committee. Clois will check with Dean Miller to see if the Arts & Sciences' area could be utilized for this event. If not , the committee will check with A/E for an available area. The committee will discuss the plans for this event at the next meeting.
E. Clois asked Robin if she would change the wording on the Staff Advisory Council bookmark to UWG from SUWG.
F. The Staff Advisory Council discussed the Staff Conference that is to be held here at the State University of West Georgia in 2002. The Staff Conference committee needs to meet with Continuing Education to plan this event. Clois showed the Staff Advisory Council and idea for the conference attendees which is a calculator she received from West Georgia Technical College as a gift. It was also suggest pens be given to conference attendees. Trish suggested a raffle be held at the conference as well. All these ideas will be discussed at future meetings.
G. Clois thanked Dr. Todd for his support to the Staff Advisory Staff. Clois then gave each member a certificate of appreciation.
