Where do I pick up my grades?

Still have a question that wasn't answered on these pages?

Submit your question to one of our advisors HERE.

How do I get approval for a major override?

Major overrides are available from your instructor. You may either email them with your name and ID, or stop by their office to request an override.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments are typically made by calling the professor directly.

I cannot get into the classes I need. What should I do?

Your best bet is still to go to class on the first day and talk to the instructor. He/she is the only one who can permit you to enter his/her course, whether it is a problem with major or other issues.

What should I take if my transcript has not been evaluated?

While waiting for your transcript to be evaluated, we recommend you take courses you KNOW you have not taken at another institution.

How do I apply for graduation?

Graduation information is available through the registrar's office at http://www.westga.edu/%7Eregistra/graduation.html.

What are upper division Crim courses and Supporting courses?

Upper division CRIM courses are courses the student 'selects' from a list of predetermined CRIM courses that are listed on the back (or page 2) of the program. Directed electives are courses the student is 'directed' to take in either CRIM or related courses after consulting with an advisor. While the decision lies primarily with the student, advisor approval is necessary.

How do I get in touch with a professor?

Faculty office hours and contact information can be found on department web page.

What are sequenced courses (prerequisites)?

A sequenced course refers to the courses that must be taken in a specific order. CRIM 1100 must be taken before CRIM 4277. You should try to get these courses out of the way as soon as possible. The department will not allow you to take these courses concurrently even if they are the only ones you have left to graduate.

Will I be able to walk in the spring even though I only have a few classes left?

The graduation office will not allow you to participate in the spring graduation if you have only one class remaining and you are enrolled for that class in the summer. Summer graduation is available.

What classes do I have left?

You should compare the program requirements against your Banweb record.

They do not offer the class I need. What can I do?

The Department does not offer every class every semester. You should take required classes as soon as possible. Do not assume the course(s) you need will be offered in a particular semester. We recommend leaving electives for you final semester in order to provide you with more flexibility.

What is the checklist for Criminal Justice?

The checklist for criminal justice is a list of all the course requirements within the major. It includes the lower division core, the upper division core, upper division crim courses, and upper division supporting courses. It does not include lower division general education, or university requirements.

Do I need to repeat a course if I earned a "D"?

The only courses in the CRIM program that require a C or better is CRIM 3240, CRIM 4284, and either SOCI 3000, SOCI 4003, or SOCI 4613. For all other courses in the major, a D is passing and does not need to be repeated if your overall GPA remains above a 2.0.  However, any grade below a C can be repeated if you choose to do so.

Where do I pick up my grades?

Your grades are available on Banweb.
