The Sociology Club
The Sociology Club

Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society
Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 and is dedicated to the ideal of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein ("To investigate humanity for the purpose of service"). The objective of this society is to promote an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, or other social and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement in the human condition. Only those students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field of sociology are invited.
The Department of Criminology is home to Chi
Omega Phi, the local chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal
Justice Honor Society. Alpha Phi Sigma was begun in 1941 to recognized
scholarly achievement among criminology and criminal justice students
within American universities and colleges. Since 1976 Alpha Phi Sigma
has been affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and
holds its annual meeting in conjunction with the Academy's Annual
Meeting each March. Membership within Alpha Phi Sigma is open to
undergraduate students (criminology major and minors).
The student must
also rank in the top 35% of their classes and have completed a minimum
of four courses within the criminal justice curriculum. Graduate students are required to maintain a GPA of 3.4 in both criminology and overall graduate courses. They are also required to have completed a minimum of four courses with the Criminology Concentration of the Master of Arts in Sociology. Interested students should contact
