Dr. Williams brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the study of law, crime, and justice. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Wright State University in 1995, and was awarded his Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology from Alliant University in the summer of 2000. Dr. Williams’ doctoral studies were centered within the arena of law and public policy and, more specifically, addressed social and political influences on mental health law and treatment of the mentally ill.

His books include Philosophy, Crime, and Criminology (2005, University of Illinois Press, co-edited with Bruce A. Arrigo), Theory, Justice, and Social Change (2004, Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers, with Bruce A. Arrigo), and Law, Psychology, and Justice: Chaos Theory and the New (Dis)order (2002, State university of New York Press, with Bruce A. Arrigo). Dr. Williams has also authored numerous book chapters and academic journal articles, including recent (2003-2004) publications in Deviant Behavior, Crime and Delinquency, and Humanity and Society. Dr. Williams' research interests include the philosophical and theoretical foundations of crime, law, and justice, critical social and criminological theory, the sociology of deviance, and the sociology of mental health and illness.
