Welcome to My Home Page Sheila D. Rivera

Welcome everyone! If this is your first time to my website, please check out the information given in the next few paragraphs. Below is a recent picture of me (taken together with my mother-in-law). We are visiting the High Museum of Art in Atlanta!!

My Background

I was born in a small town in Northern Alabama in the year 1958. My teenage years were spent during the 70’s so I really identify with the peace movement (you know, hippie’s and all). My graduating (1976) high school class consisted of only 40 students. When I decided to go to college (sometime after high school—I attended Middle Tennessee State University), I was in culture shock because there were so many students on campus. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in the summer of 1986. I stayed out of school for one year to re-group and then returned for my Master’s degree that I received in 1989 (same university). I then moved to Georgia and started teaching at SUWG. In 1995, I left to obtain another Master’s degree (Georgia State University). I continued until I earned my PhD (2002).

My Interests

I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know me
is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . .
One of my greatest passions is world travel,. I also enjoy watching soap operas, learning, art and music
