MATH 7523 Project – Part One Replacement
For this part of the project, you will create a statistics
activity that utilizes Fathom and is appropriate for use in your
classroom. (This portion of your project
is worth 25 points.)
Keep the following in mind:
- First,
you must select/create a statistics activity that is appropriate for your
grade level. The activity may be
one that
- You
already use in your class;
- You
find in a journal or book;
- Is
available on-line, or;
- Is
one that you make up.
If you do
not make up the activity yourself, be sure to cite your source. Note:
You may NOT download an activity from the
Fathom website.
- After
you have selected/created the activity, you will rewrite it so that it
utilizes Fathom. As you do this, be
sure to exploit the dynamic nature of Fathom so that you are creating a
conceptually-based activity that allows students to engage in higher-order
thinking.
- Identify
the objectives of your activity as well as the QCC’s
and the NCTM Standards that it addresses.
- When
you finish your activity, it should be in a form that is ready to be
handed out to and used by students in a classroom. That is, it should be written with
step-by-step directions using Fathom.
It should also include questions to which students respond. Consider the activities from our class
as examples.
