Becoming A Member
If you want to go Greek and interested in an NPHC organization,
the first step is to determine which organization you want to join.
The next step is to research requirements for that organization
and finally get to know the members of that organization. Each NPHC
organization must follow the membership process outlined by their
National organization. Consequently, each chapter does membership
intake at different times throughout the year. Announcements of
their recruitment information sessions will be posted around campus
on various bulletin boards. Formal NPHC Recruitment or RUSH will
always be held on campus. In addition, each of the chapters has
different qualifications for grade point average and number of credits
earned. NPHC groups require 15-30 completed hours before you are
eligible, they do not accept incoming freshman. The average GPA
required by NPHC chapters is a 2.5; however, some require higher.
There will be many opportunities for you to interact with the chapters
during the fall semester. Be on the lookout for events they are
sponsoring!
Intake
Member intake varies among the different groups on campus . An interested
potential member should see the individual information sessions
that are held on campus during the school year. These information
sessions will be advertised on the campus and in the school newspaper.
Requirements to Become a New Member
Every potential new member of a NPHC group must have a certain grade
point average in order to become a part of the Greek organization.
The grade point average requirement of each group varies, however
a 2.5 is suggested. Some NPHC groups also require that the new member
must have 12 UWG hours in order to become a new member, while other
groups are able to accept freshmen as new members. However, each
group varies in new member requirements. Feel free to visit or contact
the official web sites of the groups to find more information on
new member qualifications.
Dues
Most NPHC organizations membership payments range according to each
individual group. Most groups have membership fees, chapter dues,
and individual annual dues.
Membership fees are a one time payment and they range from $350-$450.
Individual annual dues range from $75-$100 each year.
Again, with each group, the chapter fees vary.
