Sigma Nu International was founded in 1869 at Virginia Military
Institute by three Civil War Veterans. They founded Sigma Nu on
the principles of Love, Truth, and Honor. Fall quarter of 1970,
the Theta Pi chapter at the State University of West Georgia was
founded. Sigma Nu was the first fraternity at West Georgia to accept
a bid from a national social fraternity. The Sigma Nu's at the State
University of West Georgia have always held these ounding principles
as the key to a true brotherhood. It is our belief that an adherence
to these values will produce well rounded men with the confidence
to be leaders and enjoy success throughout their lives. Our fraternity
strives for quality rather than quantity. Despite this belief we
have been one of the two largest chapters for the last decade. Our
strong commitment to education is reflected in our chapters GPA,
which can be attributed to "study halls" that all brothers and candidates
take part. Sigma Nu's are also active in all sports. When it comes
to athletics, we don't just participate, we play to win. Our long
tradition of dominance continues today Sigma Nu's social calendar
is filled with events from the beginning of the semester to the
end. We have three to four socials a semester, a fall and spring
formal, and numerous parties and Alumni events throughout the year.
Not everyone can be a Sigma Nu. Honor is our cornerstone and to
those fortunate to be chosen will know its meaning.
