Arrest warrants issued for Fortune January 9, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Police announced that they have obtained warrants for the arrest of Ruben Fortune for the April 2002 sexual assault of a West Georgia student. The warrants include one count each of aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary, and sexual battery. On April 22, 2002, a black male entered a suite in Tyus Hall, armed with a knife, and sexually assaulted a resident. He stole several personal items before fleeing. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested Monday, Jan. 6, for a similar assault in December at Georgia State University. According to Tom Mackel, Chief of Police at UWG, the Carrollton victim positively identified Fortune from a photographic line-up. In addition, physical evidence from the crime scene has been sent to the state crime lab for processing. Results of the testing are expected within the next few days. -30- |
