Computer seminars for seniors

January 7, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - If the words “megabyte,” “hard drive,” or “modem” sound like a different language but you still want to keep up with the fast-paced world of computers, then the Department of Continuing Education at the University of West Georgia has the class for you.

The Senior Computer Seminar Series, back by popular demand, offers those who lack basic computer skills a chance to learn them in a short amount of time. This easy-paced approach to computers was designed with a light-hearted attitude toward computing. No programming, no techno-babble, just plain simple topics with a gentle pace and plenty of time for practicing and socializing.

The Senior Computer Series offers a variety of topics including “Turning It On,” “Seeing Through Windows,” “Paint,” “Internet,” “Email” and the newest class, “Messenger— One–on-One Chat Over the Internet.” Each session will help participants become familiar with that particular computer topic in just a half-day format. Participants are welcome to attend just one session, any combination of sessions, or all six in the series.

Participants of all ages are welcome. The classes will be held on Wednesdays in Newnan beginning Jan. 21, or on Tuesdays in Carrollton beginning Feb.10. Each session is $19 and seating is limited. For more information or to register for a session, call Continuing Education at 770-836-6611.
