Theatre Program presents Love Letters

January 14, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - Showcasing local talent, the University of West Georgia Theatre Company presents Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, UWG president, and alumna Brenda L. Dangle in Love Letters by A.R. Gurney, Jan. 28-29, in the newly restored Martha Munro Acting Studio on the UWG campus. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Theatre Program Scholarship Fund.

Spanning 30 years of happiness and heartache, Gurney’s play takes us on a journey of love, loyalty and laughter through the fervent friendship of Andrew Makepeace III and Melissa Gardner. Long one of Gurney’s most produced plays, the beauty of Love Letters is in its simplicity the play is a staged reading allowing both actors to create emotional, heartrending portrayals.

The UWG Theatre Program is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Its primary mission is to educate and inspire students who wish to study the art of theatre.

“By offering a B.A. degree in Theatre, we hope to provide students with a well-rounded education in all areas of theatre arts – production & performance (including acting, directing, and design/technical skills), literature, and history,” explains Shelly Elman, director of the Theatre Program. “Providing this type of education will empower individuals to seek careers in theatre, careers related to theatre or other professions.”

For ticket information call at 678-839-4700 or e-mail Kat McGehee with the Theater Department at kmcgehee@westga.edu. Tickets are $25 per person. Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance.
