Spring Music Events

CARROLLTON, GA - This spring, the Department of Music at the University of West Georgia has gone to great lengths to compile a series of events that will both enrich students educational experience and also be accessible to the public. In addition to performances, the department has arranged for a clarinet master class to be taught by Karl Leister, an internationally recognized clarinetist.

“It is a great accomplishment,” said Lorrie Sposato-Allen, program coordinator for the Department of Music, “the class will draw people from a wide area to attend.”

The master class will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 3 p.m. in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall, room 101 in the Humanities building. Additional details will be announced.

The first performance will feature percussion and saxophone symposium concerts on Friday, Feb. 4 at 8:15 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. Admission will be free.

Opera Workshop: Puccini’s Madam Butterfly (Dr. Larry Frazier, Director): March 10 and 12 at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center Reserved Seating: $10-Regular, $7 Senior Citizens, $3 Children under 12, Free with UWG ID

UWG Jazz Ensemble Performance (Dr. Daniel Bakos, Director): March 17 at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center Free Admission

Steven Framil-Cellist: March 28 at 8:15 p.m. at the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall Free Admission

Annual Honors Day Recital: March 30 at 3:30 p.m. at the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall Free Admission
