Fifth Annual Julian C. Stanley Distinguished Lecture Series January 27, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The Advanced Academy of Georgia’s annual Board of Trustees meeting will be Feb. 25-26 and supplemented by the Fifth Annual Julian C. Stanley Distinguished Lecture Series. The guest for this year’s lecture will be Dr. Jack Schuster, professor of education and public policy at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, Calif.
Schuster holds a bachelor's in history from Tulane University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, a master's in political science from Columbia University and a doctorate in education from the University of California at Berkeley. He also co-directs the Project on the Future of the American Faculty, a multi-year research activity, with Martin Finkelstein and has chaired various committees, advisory groups and panels including the American Association of University Professor’s Committee and the Journal of Higher Education’s editorial board. He has lectured all over the world, including the United Kingdom, China, Germany, Mexico, and Japan. Schuster is the author or co-author of numerous books, including Governing Tomorrow’s Campus: Perspectives and Agendas, The New Academic Generation: A Profession in Transformation, and the soon to be published The American Faculty: The Restructuring of Academic Work and Careers. His article, “The Politics of Education in a New Era,” received a 1983 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Educational Press Association of America.
