Intenational Night

January 19, 2006

CARROLLTON, GA - Students at the University of West Georgia will host their annual International Night Thursday, Jan. 26, at 6:45 p.m. in the Z-6 Food Services Building.

International Night offers participants a trip around the globe to more than 40 countries. Taste exquisite cuisine, enjoy live entertainment and learn a little more about other languages and cultures through exhibits put together by UWG international students and the International Student Club of UWG.

“The students so enjoy teaching the campus and community,” said Sylvia Shortt, assistant director of Student Services. “They’ll happily show us everything about their food, their dances and songs and their wonderful fashions.”

Guests will be entertained with a variety of live performances including Russian dancers, a Danish saxophone, a Latin drum and what is described as a “trumpet bonanza.”

A Cultural Diversity Fashion Show will feature traditional attire from 10 countries including The Gambia, India, Japan, Brazil and Montserrat.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Student Development Office in Parker Hall or at the door the night of the event. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for non-students. For more information, call 678-839-6428.
