Clarinetist Carr to perform February 21, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Department of Music will sponsor a student music recital on Monday, March 3, at 8:15 p.m. in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall. Clarinetist Christopher Carr, a junior from Jonesboro, will be accompanied by pianist Jan Adams and assisted by cellist Jason Matthews. He will perform complete sonatas by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms, English folk-song settings by Ralph Vaughan Williams and three short sonatas by C.P.E. Bach. Carr was selected principal clarinet in the 2003 Georgia Music Education Association conference’s All-College Band and played in the 2002 College Band Directors Southeast Regional Inter-college Band. He is the recipient of several UWG awards, including the 2002 Arts Study Club Award, and a Sony Music Scholarship, and he is a Wright music scholar. The recital is free and open to the public.
