Faculty chamber music concert to be held

February 7, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - A Faculty Chamber Music Concert will be held at the University of West Georgia on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 8:15 p.m. in Kathy Cashen Hall. The concert is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert, which is being organized by clarinet professor Dr. Robert Janssen, will be a rare opportunity for both full and part-time music faculty and their guests to play music together.

The program will consist of works ranging from Renaissance to contemporary, including compositions by Leon Stein, Johann Quantz, Joseph Kreutzer, Camille Saint-Saens, Carl Reinecke and others. Instrumental combinations include the Dorian Consort’s Early Music collaboration of cello, recorder and harpsichord, and a modern piece for French horn and percussion, in addition to more familiar combinations of instruments.

Performers will include Janssen on clarinet; Dr. John Bleuel, assistant professor, on saxophone; Dr. Thomas Garcia, assistant professor, on guitar; Jan Adams, staff accompanist, on piano; Lisa Bartholow, part-time flute instructor; Anna Thibeault, graduate student, on flute; Ellie Jenkins, part-time horn instructor, on French horn; Tony Sawyer, instructor, on percussion; and Roberta Jacobs, part-time strings instructor on cello. These faculty members will be joined by guests artists Linda Li-Bleuel on piano, Martin Rudy on recorders and David Kinrade on harpsichord.
