A Day of HOPE February 14, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The EXCEL Center at the University of West Georgia will present “A Day of HOPE” on Monday, Feb.17, to recognize those students who have kept their HOPE Scholarship. According to statistics, fewer than 25 percent of Georgia’s college students retain their scholarship and two-thirds of UWG students lose their HOPE at the 30-hour evaluation review. The purpose of “A Day of HOPE” is to applaud the students who have been successful at retaining HOPE and motivate the ones who have lost their HOPE to “reclaim” theirs back. All HOPE scholars will receive their “HOPE is Still Alive Card” in the mail to be able to take advantage of different discounts in restaurants around town:
“A Day of HOPE” will culminate at the UWG Braves vs. Clayton State Basketball Game at 7:30 p.m. at the Health and Physical Education building. For more information, contact Annie Gilliam, assistant director and coordinator of the minority achievement program, at 770-836-6414. -30- |
