Faculty rewarded for online courses February 26, 2003
Dr. Thomas Hynes (standing, left), vice president for academic affairs, was on hand to congratulate the winners. Winners included (standing, l-r) Dr. Amin Boumenir, assistant professor of mathematics; Dr. Richard Sanders, assistant professor of geology; Dr. Peter E. Morgan, associate professor of english; Carrie McWhorter, instructor in English; (Seated, l-r) Darlene Jones-Owens, temporary instructor in instructional technology; Dr. Michael Hirlinger, professor of political science and director of MPA program; Dr. Muhammad Rahman, assistant professor of computer science; Dr. Lisa Gezon, associate professor of anthropology; and (not pictured) Dr. Sharmistha Basu-Dutt, assistant professor of chemistry. To be considered for the award, each faculty member developed and submitted a proposal for an online course using WebCT and such other programs as Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Authorware. A committee of six faculty members selected the winners, who will be assigned use of the laptops for as long as they are employed at West Georgia. -30- |
