Flash! course offered

February 16, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - Emeril has BAM! The web has Flash!

Properly named Macromedia Flash, the software program was initially developed as a way to create small, fast-loading animations for visually exciting web pages. Over the years, Flash has evolved into a full web page production tool that allows anyone to create interactive media ranging from animated logos to navigational controls and even entire web sites.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, you can try your hand at this exciting program in a course from the University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education. Taught at the Newnan Center in Newnan, the course will help you spice up your web site with quick and powerful tools.

“This is a basic Flash course, designed for those who have never tried the program before,” says Lauri Thompson, computer specialist for the Continuing Education Department. “Students can expect to learn the basics of creating shapes and employing colors, moving and manipulating shapes and images, inserting text and adding layers. In addition, we’ll create a frame-by-frame animation using Flash tools.”

The one-day course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a break for lunch and is priced at $109 for the public and $79 for UWG faculty and staff. Participants should have basic computer skills, an understanding of the Internet and web browsers, and basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.

For more information or to register for the course, contact the Department of Continuing Education at 770-836-6611.
