New library hours

February 18, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - The Student Government Association (SGA) at the University of West Georgia has been instrumental in having the hours changed for the Ingram Library on campus.

According to Laura Ellington, SGA public relations chair, many students had requested extended library hours. A count was taken of student usage of the library at certain times revealing the need to shift the operating hours. The hours were rearranged to best meet students’ needs.

“One of the most important responsibilities of SGA is to identify and meet the needs of students,” Ellington says.

The new hours are 8 a.m.-11 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Thursday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday; and 2:30 p.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.

“The new library hours will be piloted this spring semester,” according to Linda Picklesimer, director of Student Activities. “If there is enough traffic in the library with this schedule, they will become the regular hours.”
