Human Resource training available at UWG February 16, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia, through the Department of Continuing Education, has been certified as an approved provider of human resource professional training by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). According to Dr. Jimmy Agan, director of the Department of Continuing Education, this credential is one of the more prestigious within the field of human resource management training. It provides human resource professionals the confidence that courses taken will be current, meet industry standards, and enable them to re-certify their Professional of Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) credential. “Approval from HRCI simply indicates what we’ve known all along — our programs are top-notch and meet the needs of local HR professionals," said Paul Steeley, the department's Human Resource Program Developer. “Now we’ll be even more committed to delivering timely and relevant training for our HR partners.” UWG has also been recognized by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) at its annual conference for having the only program in Georgia that produced a 100 percent pass rate for students preparing for the Professional in Human Resource credential of the HRCI in 2002. “What this means for the West Georgia area is that we can provide a local resource for professional training in human resources that is recognized nationally as current and meeting the professional standard of excellence,” Agan noted.
